Merry Christmas to you, our wonderful subscribers, from Thessaloniki, Greece!!!
Our dear friends invited us to spend Christmas with their family here. And we are so grateful for the opportunity! Since we had to make such a quick trip back to the States due to my father’s passing in October, we knew we wouldn’t be able to return for Christmas this year. So, this trip to Thessaloniki was a Godsend for sure.
This city is beautiful on its own, but experiencing it during the Nativity makes it even more special and beautiful!
Walking among the ancient churches here is breathtaking. Since we are Orthodox, it was such a gift to be a part of our Church daily and the services during this time. Glory to God!
Combine the ancient with the modern and there is just no comparison.

It is so much fun being back here. Walking the streets through the city is especially fun with all the families out and about.
There were many street performers enjoying time with families as well. If you listen closely you will hear them singing along. We loved this!
Many areas are set up specifically for children, like these giant displays in Aristotelous Square where kids could run and play, plus have their pictures taken. Such a fun environment!

But one must be careful when exploring or your waistline will expand like Santa's because everywhere you look there are treats. And boy are they tasty!
Our time here has been so blessed. If we had to be away from family, we are happy we got to spend it here with our Church, our friends, music, and food in celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior.
Christ is Born!!! Glorify Him!!!
I completely agree with this statement "Combine the ancient with the modern and there is just no comparison." It must have been humbling to be in such an ancient city to celebrate the nativity. And yet it must have been surprising to hear 20th century American Christmas music sung in Greek. Thanks for providing us so many photos.
